In The Wilderness Act, read Special Provision (3) of Section 4 about mining. What key points are made in this provision? Identify two or more key points and provide the textual evidence that helped you to determine these key points.

Respuesta :

1. The Act allowed for prospecting and allowed filing of mineral claims up

until December 31, 1983.

- Section 4 (d)(3) mining laws would continue to apply to wilderness areas until the specified date

2. The Act allows for development of facilities necessary

for mining or drilling such claims, and allows cutting of trees to support mine

infrastructure, but also requires restoration of the surface of the land once the

facilities have served their purpose.

-Section 4 (d) (2) provided that nothing in the act prevented any activity including prospecting that would assist in developing information about mineral sources in the area. Same section called for restoration of affected areas once completed.
