Please help I cant figure this one out!!!
What is the equation of a line passing through the point (6, 1) and parallel to the line whose equation is 3x = 2y + 4?

y = -(⅔)x + 5
y = (3/2)x - 8
y = -(⅔)x - 3
y = (3/2)x - 5

Respuesta :

3x = 2y + 4

3x + 4 = 2y

y = (3x + 4)/2

y = 3x/2 + 2

Two lines are parallel when their linear coeficient are equal, so,

(y - yo) = m.(x - xo)

m needs to be 3/2

(y - yo) = 3/2 . (x - xo)

(y - 1) = 3/2 . (x - 6)

y - 1 = 3x/2 - 3.6/2

y - 1 = 3x/2 - 9

y = 3x/2 - 9 + 1

y = 3x/2 - 8
