A metal cube has a mass of 20 g and a volume of 5 cm3. Is the cube made of pure aluminum? explain
Density is the mass of compound divided by its volume and it is the measurement of the solution how much dense it is.
Density can be shown as:
density of cube =[tex]m /V[/tex]
where, m is mass of cube [tex]= 20 g[/tex]
V is volume of cube = 5 cc
[tex]d = 20 /5 = 4 g /cc[/tex]
As the calculated density of Al is 4 g /cc but theoritically density of Al supposed to be 2.7 g/cm3 .
Thus, the given cube is not of aluminium.
Based on the calculation below, the cube is not made of pure aluminum.
Mass = 20g
Volume = 5cm³
Density will be:
Density = Mass / Volume
Density = 20/5
Density = 4g/cm³
It should be noted that the theoretical density of Aluminum should be 2.7g but since the calculated value is 4g, then the cube is not made of pure aluminum
In conclusion, the cube isn't made of pure aluminum.
