Pouring a drink from a bottle is physics as force of adhesion between molecule of water to glass is more than force of gravity on water.
What is force of adhesion?
Everyday liquids, in general, have a tendency to stick to other surfaces, it is called adhesion.
The force of adhesion is defined as the force of attraction between different substances, such as glass and water.
What is cohesion?
Everyday liquids, in general, have a tendency to stick to themselves, it is called cohesion.
Cohesive force is the one that make liquid resist separation.
What is force of gravity?
All the objects on earth with mass attracts towards the centre of earth. This attraction force on objects is called gravity.
While pouring tea or water out of a bottle even when you do it slowly, the attraction force between the surface and the water molecules is stronger than that of the water molecules among themselves. That’s why the force of gravity acting on water needs to overcome the adhesive forces between water molecules and the container’s surface to pull water away from the container.
The speed with which water is poured out plays a crucial role. If speed is high, then water molecules get less time to bond with surface of bottle and hence, poured clearly. When speed of pouring is very slow then water molecules get more time to bond and hence water run down the side.
