Equation of point-slope form, that passes through (−2, −6) and has a slope of 1/3:

y - (-6) = 1/3(x - (-2))

y + 6 = 1/3(x + 2)

To tell if you are adding or subtracting in this form I do this:

When you have a negative number you change to positive and add.

When you have a positive number you substract.
