Washington’s state government is organized into three branches.
Alike, the federal government of the United States, the state government of Washington also functions with a larger system that incorporates a judicial system, a legislative system, and an executive system.
For the convenience of administration, the state of Washington has these three systems functioning separately within it. The judicial (courts and judges), legislative (law making), and executive systems (implementing the law) in Washington are subordinate to systems functioning at the central level.
