Miantonomi, also known as Miantonomoh, was a chief of the Narragansett people, in the area that is now known as New England. Miantonomoh was friendly to the English colonists of the region, and he went to great lengths to prove his loyalty. However, Miantonomoh was still concerned about some aspects of colonization. He was particularly concerned about how much the settlements were expanding. He was worried about the possibility of colonists taking over the whole area through their continuous establishment of new settlements.
