An artistic sketch is one that is open to some level of interpretation, by both the person creating it and the viewer viewing it. Often an artistic sketch is also looser and more abstract than an accurate depiction of a scene or object.
It can be exaggerated using artistic license to emphasize a point or concept.


A technical sketch by contrast is one that is used to communicate someting about a design or idea in specific dimensions or quality. Technical sketches must be to scale and be accurate in detail and spatial relationships.

 A technical sketch is a sketch that displays dimensions and should display the different parts of the subject. An artistic sketch, on the other hand, is the aesthetic drawing; just showing the object's looks, but still uses some sort of proportioning and ratio.
