The European countries which were considered to be "behind the Iron Curtain" included: Poland, Eastern Germany, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania and the Soviet Union. From North Korea to Cuba more countries were separated from the West in the same sense.

Hungary is to the east of Romania. Ukraine is 600,628 square kilometers in size, while Belarus is just 207,595 square kilometers in size. Evidently, Ukraine is nearly twice the size of Belarus. Of the countries that comprised the USSR, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia are four you can still find on the map.
