A trailer will be used to transport several 40 kilogram crates to a store. the greatest amount of weight that can be loaded onto the trailer is 1,050 kilograms. An 82 kilogram crate has already been loaded onto the trailer. what is the greatest number of 40 kilogram crates that can be loaded onto the trailer

Respuesta :

Ok say that x is the greatest number of 40 kg crates that can be loaded to the transport.
then 40x+82 must be at most 1050 kg because its the weight that the transport can handle
so that means algebraically
40x+82<= 1050
solve this inequality
40x+82-82<= 1050-82
40x<=968

40x/40 <= 968/40
x<= 24.2
so the greatest amount of 40 kg crates you can add is 24 crates
82+crates is less than or equal to 1050
crates=40 times number of crates (c)
82+40c≤1050
minus 82 both sides
40c≤968
divide both sides by 40
c≤24.2
round down since we can't put 0.2 crates on
24 crates is max number we can add
