The French Revolution had a world wide impact. Even before Napoleon was defeated Latin America revolted against Spanish rule. The Latin American revolutions lasted longer and were more destructive than the American revolution, and failed in the sense that their governments usually ignored the written constitutions the revolutionaries had drawn up.
The Russian Revolution stems directly from the French Revolution, as did all the consequent Communist revolts. The African revolutionary movements also stem from the French Revolution.
