fisrt we must know the molar mass of the HCl. the molar mass of HCl is 36.46 g / mol. first is to convert the given mass of hcl to number of moles then divide it by the molarity to get the volume required.

volume HCl = 3.4 g hcl ( 1 mol hcl / 36.46 g hcl) (1 L / 0.5 mol hcl )
volume HCl = 0.1865 L
