Cell membranes are structured so that molecules can pass in and out if the cell across them. While both plant and animal cells have membranes, plant cells also have cell walls surrounding their cells. Cell membranes are semi Permeable, which means a selective verity of molecules can pass through. Theses molecules that can pass through are usually hydrophobic, water hating molecules.
