Caitlin is 62 1/4 inches tall. Her older brother Jaime is 9 1/2 inches taller than Caitlin.Jaime is 2 1/4 inches shorter than their father. How tall is their father?

To do this you want to first add 9 1/2 to 62 1/4.  9 1/2 is changed to 9 2/4.  9 2/4 plus 62 1/4 is 71 3/4.  Now you have to add 2/14 to 71 3/4 to find how tall their father is.  2/14 plus 71 3/4 is 74.  Their dad is 74 inches tall which is equal to 6 feet 2 inches.

You would add Caitlin's height 62 1/4 (62.25) to 9 1/2 (9.5) to get Jaime's height which is 71 3/4 (71.75).Then you add 2 1/4 (2.25) to 71 3/4 (71.75) to get their father's height which is 74 inches.
