The JROTC is the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps. It was created in 1916 as part of the National Defences Act. It is a Federal program that is sponsored by the USA Armed Forces and targets high school as well as some middle school students. Its purpose is to develop patriotism, responsiveness to authority as well as identify junior leaders. This program also helps improve reading and writing skills as well as rewarding scholastic achievements.
The JROTC program has evolved and changed with the changing nature of modern day warfare. The curriculum has moved from that of teaching scholars to provide the correct answers, to that of teaching scholars critical thinking skills and how to solve problems.
