Metaphase I and II occur when a cell divides itself into two cells. In Metaphase 1, the pairs of chromosomes begin to arrange themselves on the Metaphase plate. The pairs of chromosomes also bind themselves to the meiotic spindle. The centrioles are still at the opposite sides of the dividing cell. The pairs of chromosomes also attach themselves to the spindle fibres at the opposite poles of the dividing cell. Metaphase II is very similar to Metaphase I except that in Metaphase II, the chromosomes are no longer in pairs when they are arranged on the metaphase plate. The angle of the metaphase plate is different during Metaphase I and II.
