The Athens had a democeatic govern, and only free men could vote. Women, and slaves were not allowed to go outside, and only rarely were they included in parties, funerals, and other ceremonies. As for economics, im not exactly sure...

  In ancient Athens, citizenship  political and civil rights were exclusively reserved for men. Slaves and women were out-rightly excluded from voting.

    The lands around Athens were not enough to sustain the basic needs of Athenians and hence they engaged in a lot of trade. They traded honey, olive oil, silver, and beautifully painted pottery.

The Economy of Ancient Athens

     The major boosting factor to the economy of Athens was trade. Athens being a city state close to the sea had good harbor and this greatly influenced the economy of the City state. They traded with other Greek city states and some other countries.

Trade with Foreign Nations

    Athenians acquired  their wood from Italy and their grain from Egypt. In exchange for this , Athenians sold honey, olive oil, silver, and beautifully painted pottery.

      The Agora served as the market place for Athenians. Merchants sold their wares in small stands. Most clothing were made at home but they bought other leather materials from the market.
